Advanced Standing Report Help

You are viewing the Advanced Standing Report page. This page provides a way for you to review transfer course work that has been received and recorded by Oregon State University as part of your official record. While your official OSU transcript shows the result of transferred course work, this Advance Standing Report provides the detail of how each each course was evaluated.

A complete, official evaluation of all course work transferred to OSU is referred to as an Advanced Standing Report. It reflects all college and university courses taken, as documented from your academic transcripts. The report shows whether or not OSU accepted the course in transfer, and if accepted, how it transfers to OSU.

Courses are grouped by Attendance Period for each Transferring Institution. A Bold entry showing the OSU equivalent will appear immediately following each applicable course.

If you have any questions regarding your Advanced Standing Report or OSU's transfer evaluation process, contact the Office of Admission & Orientation at 800-291-4192.

The Advanced Standing Report (ASR) has been designed to provide you and your academic advisor with a summary of the transcript information on previously attended colleges and universities. Below gives more information about the report.
  1. Transfer Courses:
TERM: the term course work was taken at prior institution.
SUBJ: course subject as noted on prior institution transcript.
COURSE: numeric identifier as noted on prior institution transcript.
TITLE: course title as noted on prior institution transcript.
CR HRS: credit hours reported in units used at prior institution.
GRADE: mark recorded on prior institution transcript.

  2. OSU Evaluation:
    SUBJ: OSU subject equivalent.
    CRSE: OSU numeric identifier.
TITLE: OSU course title of equivalent.
CR HRS: OSU quarter credit hours of equivalent courses.
    GRADE: OSU grade equivalent.

  3. When there is no OSU equivalent, the title and course number of the transferable course work will be identified as LDT = lower division transfer and UDT = upper division transfer.

    For example:
(Dept) LDT (e.g., CH LDT) - These are Lower Division Transfer (LDT) courses.
(Dept) UDT (e.g., BI UDT) - These are Upper Division Transfer (UDT) courses.

BI LD1* courses are considered to be taught at the nonmajors level at OSU. These courses are similar to OSU's BI 101, 102 and 103 courses though they do not match any single course closely enough to be articulated as such. Any LD1* course will fulfill a Biological Science (with lab) requirement of the Baccalaureate Core - see the Baccalaureate Core list for details. If the lecture and lab are taught as separate courses, both must be completed for a biological science baccalaureate core requirement to be fulfilled. Consult an advisor if you have further questions about how LD1* courses count in a specific major.

BI LD2* courses are considered to be taught at the science majors level at OSU. These courses are similar to OSU's BI 211, 212 and 213 courses though they do not match any single course closely enough to be articulated as such. Any one LD2* course will fulfill a Biological Science (with lab) requirement of the Baccalaureate Core - see the Baccalaureate Core for details. Students who need to complete the entire BI 211, 212, 213 series as part of their major at OSU should complete the entire sequence before transferring or wait to take the sequence at OSU. If the lecture and lab are taught as separate courses, both must be completed for a biological science baccalaureate core requirement to be fulfilled. Consult an advisor if you have further questions about how LD2* courses count in a specific major.

  4. The course title for LDT and UDT courses shown on the ASR will be the transfer college course title in most cases. The exception will be where LDT and UDT courses are used in addition to the OSU course to account for all credit earned.

    For example:
BA 171 at LBCC is a 4-credit course. This course will articulate to BA 171 (3 credits) plus BA LDT (1 credit) to provide for the full 4 credits earned.

  5. An asterisk (*) preceding the OSU evaluation title indicates the course meets a baccalaureate core requirement.

    *W1Writing I*BS Biological Science
    *W2Writing II*WCWestern Culture
    *W3Writing III*CD Cultural Diversity
    *MAMathematics*LA Literature & Arts
    *FTFitness*SISocial Processes & Institutions
*PSPhysical Science*DP Difference, Power & Discrimination

  6. "F" (Failed) grades from a transfer institution will appear in the OSU Evaluation for information only and be included in the GPA Hours but will not be included in the Earned Hours of the Transfer Summary.

  7. Some lower-division transfer courses may be equated to upper-division OSU courses. If the designation "LD:" precedes the course title, the credits will be regarded as lower-division, and will not count toward the required 60 upper-division credits.
Some upper-division transfer courses may be equated to lower-division OSU courses. If the designation "UD:" precedes the course title, the credits will be regarded as upper-division.

  8. Courses that are not accepted in transfer will be designated NAT 000 NOT ACCEPTED IN TRANSFER. The credit hours will convert to 0 and the grade earned will not be computed in the transferred GPA.

  9. LDU and UDU are lower division and upper division unarticulated courses. This coding will differentiate those courses which are not evaluated from the LDT/UDT courses (See #4). Students are responsible for sending course descriptions to the Admission Office for equivalencies on all LDU and UDU courses.

  10. "N" to the right of a grade indicates a course has been repeated.

  11. A maximum of 124 credits can be accepted at OSU for course work completed at a community/junior college. If more than 124 hours have been completed, all credits will be reflected on the ASR with a deduction of credit in excess of 124 hours (Academic Regulation 2A). If the school previously attended used the semester system, one semester unit equals 1.5 quarter credits at OSU. (124 OSU credits is equvalent to 72 semester units.)

  12. OSU will grant up to 12 hours of credit for professional/technical nontransferable work. These will appear on the report as PROF and the hours are added into the transfer summary.
